Topic: Gundam Wing Slash

I wrote this a long time ago under the pen name K'Money when I was fresh to slash in general and Gundam Wing in particular. This is a poem!fic, set to a poem by William Blake. Duo watches and thinks about their relationship as Wufei sleeps in his arms.Pairing: 2x5 Rating: PG-13

Tyger Tyger

(Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright)

Duo looked down at the boy sleeping with his head nestled on his lap. It was hard to believe that he held such power within his hands. The thought that Chang Wufei, last of his clan, loved him still filled him with reverence.

(In the forests of the night,)

He held his breath as the raven- haired warrior stirred and tossed his head fitfully. He lifted a slightly trembling hand and gently smoothed the tussled black silk posing as hair out of Wufei's face.

(What immortal hand or eye)

(Could frame thy fearful symmetry?)

Wufei leaned into the warmth of that calming hand, once more becoming peaceful, still. Duo continued to study his beloved face freed by sleep from the almost ever-present scowl lines. This face that he loved so dearly wasn't classically beautiful like Trowa's. No, the lines of the cheekbones were too sharp. Not an exotic mix of cultures like Heero's. No, this was strictly Asian. Not feminine like Quatre's. The nose too prominent, the jawbone too strong. Most definitely not ordinary like his own with only one or two remarkable features. No, here was a man with a face that proclaimed to the world what he was. A man of honor, justice, faith, strength, and most importantly love.

(In what distant deeps or skies)

(Burnt the fire of thine eyes?)

He often wondered what kind of land had grown such a man as the one sleeping in his arms. What kind of place had molded such an enigma? A man with the mind of a scholar, the body of an assassin. But talking of his home brought clouds into the clear black of Wufei's already too haunted eyes. So Duo kept his questions to himself. Yet, he was thankful to this unknown, extinct place for the treasure that it had brought forth.

(On what wings dare he aspire?)

(What hand dare seize the fire?)

Duo thought of his own home. A slum of a colony filled with the crooked and crooks. Once more a sense of unworthiness overtook him. Who was he, a L2 street rat, to proclaim love to such a jewel? What right did he have to possess the flame that was Wufei?

(And what shoulder, & what art.)

(Could twist the sinews of thy heart?)

He was just an ordinary boy, forced into an extraordinary situation. Somehow, he, himself didn't know how, Wufei had found beauty in his pale skin, his slight form, his, to him, freakish violet hued eyes, his waist length, dirty brown braid.

(And when thy heart began to beat,)

(What dread hand? & what dread feet?)

Duo clutched his prize closer to his chest as a terrible thought struck him. Wufei was at heart a loner. How often did a tyger change its stripes? Surely, this was more than a temporary fling?

(What the hammer? What the chain?)

(In what furnace was thy brain?)

Who really knew what went on behind those midnight mirrors that allowed no glimpse within merely reflected without? A mystery, a lovely unsolved mystery. It sounded romantic, but in truth it could be incredibly lonely, loving a mystery.

(What the anvil? What dread grasp)

(Dare its deadly terrors clasp?)

No, he would not sit here and pity himself. The time he spent with his love was wonderful. More than he could have dared to hope for. Just because Wufei had yet to tell him he loved him was no reason to sink into a funk. Wu loved him. He had to love him.

(When the stars threw down their spears,)

(And watered heaven with their tears,)

Thunder rumbled in the sky and a sudden wind ruffled his bangs. Duo sighed. It seemed as if the earth itself mourned with him. He frowned at the dark clouds that seemed to materialize above their heads. Still Wufei slept. The deep sleep of someone certain of his safety.

(Did he smile his work to see?)

(Did he who made the Lamb make thee?)

"Wufei, Fei," Duo gently shook the resting boy. He smiled into owlishly blinking eyes. The smile turned into laughter as Wufei promptly tried to bury his head in his stomach and go back to sleep.

"Wufei, get up. It's about to rain. We have to go inside."

The Chinese boy grumbled and sat up gingerly. Duo groaned as the blood returned to his limbs. He stood stretching the cramped leg muscles. He stopped mid stretch to find Wufei staring up at him. He offered a small smile, not his usual manic grin, and a hand up.

Wufei rose with the same grace with which he did everything and stood before Duo. He smoothed back the unruly chestnut bangs and gazed into amethyst jewels. Instead of releasing the fragile hand, he raised it to his mouth, kissing it lightly.

"I love you, Duo Maxwell."

The skies fell open and heaven's tears fell. Mingling with Duo's as he and Wufei ran, laughing for shelter. No sweeter rain had ever fallen.

(Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright)

(In the forests of the night,)

(What immortal hand or eye)

(Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?)
